THREE persons, including a member of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF), were arrested, while a firearm and P109,600 worth of illegal drugs were recovered in anti-drug operations in Zamboanga Peninsula.
Police Major Helen Galvez, Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Peninsula information officer, identified the arrested suspects as Mujahid Hamid, who uses the aliases Carlo Amid and Datuwata, 22, an MILF member; Habagat Bas, 52; and Junior Lucas, 33.
Galvez said Hamid was caught in possession of some P14,600 worth of substance believed to be shabu and a caliber .45 pistol with ammunition when arrested in a drug bust around 6:30 p.m. Monday, August 26, in Purok 4, Barangay Boyugan West, Kumalarang, Zamboanga del Sur.
Galvez said Bas was arrested in a drug bust around 5:30 p.m. Monday, August 26, at the Riverdale subdivision in the village of Santa Maria, Zamboanga City.
Galvez said seized from Bas were some P35,000 worth of shabu packed in three heat-sealed plastic sachets and P200 marked money.
She said the arresting team seized from Lucas P60,000 worth of shabu and P200 marked money when arrested also in a drug bust around 8:20 p.m. Monday, August 26, in the village of Santa Catalina, Zamboanga City.
Charges for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 is set to be filed against Lucas, who was detained, said Galvez. (SunStar Philippines)
