10–miler Baguio Olympics run list-up still on

REGISTRATION is still ongoing for the Baguio Classic 10-miler of the first Baguio Olympics on September 1 as part of the city’s charter day anniversary.

Organizers said list–up for the upcoming event is now ongoing at the Laperal Bldg. in Session Road which fires off runners at 4:30 a.m. from the historic Kennon Road Lion’s head up to the Athletic Bowl with prizes awaiting the top runners in different categories.

Registration fee is P500 inclusive of commemorative race shirt, finisher’s medal, and snacks.

A two-day golf tournament will also be part of the sports event line up for the Baguio Day celebration dubbed Baguio Olympics Cup which is expected to draw more than a hundred parbusters who will see action at the Baguio Country Club and Pinewoods Golf and Country Club, August 31 and September 1.

The two-day golf for-a-cause will adopt the Stableford PAL system, where all participants will be classified according to full handicap based on their July 2019 official handicap (hdcp).

The men’s group will be classified into three groups: group A for zero for five hdcp; group B for 16 to 23 hdcp; and group C for 24 hdcp and above.

Female and junior golfer participants have one group each.

Special awards are the longest drive and nearest to the pine in assigned holes both at BCC and Pinewoods.

Registration fee, which will entitle each player two days of play at BCC and Pinewoods, is P3,000.

Tee time will be on a first-come, first-served basis.

The first batch of players will tee off at 7 p.m. while the second batch will be at noon on “shotgun” play.

Biking enthusiasts in the city will be up for a challenge as the 22 kilometer mountain bike uphill race also sees action on September 1 which starts at Camp 6 toll booth and will end at the Baguio Country Club barangay hall.

Cash and medals await top three finishers in the Under 23, senior (23 to 24 years old), veteran (35 – 45), masters (46 and above) and ladies open.

Medals will also be given to 4th to 10 place finishers.
