Pacya: BSUCMPC to surpass 2 billion this September

IF YOU want to be a part of a billionaire coop, join the Benguet State University and Community Multipurpose Cooperative (BSUCMPC) in its quest to reach two billion assets next month.

BSUCMPC, as of this writing, has an estimated total asset of P1,994,000,000, just six million short of its target. It can be recalled that the coop has breached one billion last July 2017.

Chief executive officer Jane Asiong said one of the secrets of the coop in achieving such success after going through a seesaw battle. Aside from the supportive and committed board of directors, she said another key factor is the hiring of the right employees. The skills, knowledge, and attitude of the staff are the needed competencies of the cooperative. The employees are committed to achieving their vision as a model multipurpose cooperative in the Cordillera Region.

Over the weekend, I was privileged to be sponsored by BSUCMPC in their staff congress in Palawan. The Northern Luzon Federation of Cooperatives and Development Center (NORLU-CEDEC) organized the activity where they invite their primary coop members to attend. Asiong said that the activity is a way of appreciating the effective and efficient performance of their staff.

This year, the training centered on managing stress, building self-esteem and staying positive at work with veteran resource speakers from Puerto Princesa. The speakers also shared how the coops took part in the community based sustainable tourism in Palawan. Accordingly, the program is one of the best practices of the city that can be replicated here in the region.

NORLU-CEDEC training officer Julienne Dalangey emphasized that the program aims to give the opportunity for coop staff to explore other places, cultures, and people. She also stressed that the event will also give a chance for the workers to have closer ties while enjoying and relaxing outside their respective offices.

“Together with the staff and committees assigned, we are working on the Human Resource Development Plan including our performance evaluation so that we will really see on how we can continuously improve on the delivery of our services” Asiong answered when asked about their next step to ensuring sustainable human resource development.

On a personal note, during the four-day event, I observed that BSUCMPC staff have high regards of their co-employees, no matter where they belong in the organizational structure. Also, I know that all of their Board of Directors are social workers and community transformers. I personally witnessed how Dr. Edna Chua, one of the BODs, has influenced me as a student. I was able to graduate college with great experiences, which is a product of Dr. Chua’s program before she retired in service.

So what are you waiting for? Join the cause of making a better future and a better community. Invest now with BSUCMPC.
