ALL it took was one message and I was welcomed back “home” to the grand dame of the Queen City of the South.

Perhaps one of the most heartwarming replies to a note of gratitude is “you are family.” It’s like letting me know that Marco Polo Plaza Cebu will always have space for me whenever I come knocking on its door.

Marco Polo Plaza Cebu’s spot on the prestigious Nivel Hills enjoys a commanding view of Cebu City and Mactan Island. An address 600 feet above sea level is surely one of its most attractive features.

Once again, I find myself entering the familiar hall brightened by crystal chandeliers and fresh flowers, and the grand staircase beckoning me to walk on its plush carpet in red and gold, but I didn’t have to. For a special welcome, I was lead to the hotel’s top floor for check-in.

The Continental Club is Marco Polo’s signature executive floor. Guests staying on the Continental Club Rooms, located on the two topmost floors of the hotel, can enjoy upgraded services and amenities. Private check-in and check-out is one of the perks, along with complimentary breakfast and all-day refreshments, and happy hour cocktails at the exclusive Continental Club Lounge. In this exclusive space one can take a sip of their morning coffee and catch the morning sun brighten Cebu City landscape or enjoy a glass of wine while basking on the picturesque view of the setting sun over the mountains and hills.

My private space in the 329-room hotel was on the 22nd floor, a Continental Mountain View Room, one of the most spacious hotel rooms in the Cebu City at 32sqm. My accommodation allowed me access to all the exclusive amenities of the Continental Club Room Floor.

The fleeting one night-visit was totally sweet. What made the stay sweeter? How about a hefty serving of the hotel’s award-winning Malicious Cookies and a warm glass of fresh milk as a goodnight kiss? It’s just like mom’s bedtime treat before sending her brood to dreamland.

Thank you for warm welcome and sweet stay, Marco Polo Plaza!
