AS PART of the vision to improve the schooling of youth, the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) of Barangay San Vicente in Apalit recently distributed school bags to hundreds of day care students in the said village.

Barangay San Vicente SK Chairman Allen Dungo said a total of 288 day care students from San Vicente, Alauli and Sampaga benefitted from the week-long activity.

Dungo said of the total number of school bags, 122 were distributed in Sampaga Day Care Center, 83 in Alauli Day Care Center and 83 in San Vicente Day Care Center.

"Through the new school bags, we are hopeful that we will be able to lessen the expenses of parents while also encouraging the children to come and enjoy schooling. Although day care centers are somehow considered as play schools, they still play a huge part in the foundation of the children," he said.

Dungo, who is also the SK Apalit Chapter president, also encouraged other youth councils in town and province to conduct similar activities that will improve the schooling and overall wellness of fellow youth.

"There are SK councils who have conducted the same activity, some gave school supplies instead of school bags, and we are hopeful that other councils will be inspired to create such programs in their respective jurisdictions," he said.
