P900,000 worth of ‘shabu’ seized

AN ESTIMATED P900,000 worth of illegal drugs were seized by the Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (PDEU) in Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental Friday.

Police identified the suspect as Rodrigo Kinkito Armentano, 42.

Armentano was arrested in a drug bust at Purok Orchids, Sitio Canday-ong, Barangay Calindagan around 8:25 p.m., after he sold a shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride) to a police agent for P2,000.

He also yielded a big sachet of suspected shabu weighing 60 grams.

Drug charges are being readied against Armentano, who is detained at the custodial facility of Dumaguete City Police Station.

In another development, agents of Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Negros Island Region (PDEA-NIR) arrested Ralph Daniel Monte, 30, of La Castellana, Negros Occidental in a drug bust operation at Bacolod City on Thursday after he sold a shabu to a law enforcer for P500.

Recovered from Monte, who is a seaman, were four sachets of suspected shabu, drug paraphernalia and P500 marked money.

Lawyer Roselyn Borja, PDEA-NIR officer-in-charge, said the recovered illegal drugs has an estimated value of P8,000.

In another drug bust, Ernie Bunda, 34, of Barangay Zone 3, Talisay City, was arrested last Wednesday, that led to a recovery of two sachets of shabu and P200 marked money.

Still in the same province, Armando Songcayawon, 49, of Barangay Aguisan, Himamaylan City, was arrested last Wednesday, after he was caught engaging in illegal gambling.

The suspect yielded lottery tickets, P260 cash, ballpen and three sachets of shabu.

In Silay City, Erick Jamonong, 30, of Barangay Guinhalaran was arrested on the same day after police placed him under surveillance. Police seized a sachet of shabu and a lighter.

Also arrested in the same province last Tuesday for sale and possession of illegal drugs was Patrick Mahusay, 34, of Barangay Poblacion 1, Sagay City.

Mahusay yielded 10 sachets of shabu, P300 marked money, P1,400 cash, and cellular phone.

In Negros Oriental, a farmer was collared by police at Siaton town on Thursday after he sold a stick of suspected marijuana to a police agent for P100.

Police identified the suspect as Roswell Macasinag, 35, of Barangay Bonawon. He also yielded six sticks of marijuana, P100 marked money and an empty pack of cigarette. (GYM)
