DOTr to revise drivers’ license requirements

AN OFFICIAL of the Department of Transportation (DOTr) announced that the procedure in the securing license is set to be revised to ensure that drivers are competent and disciplined.

Lawyer Aminola Abaton, Land Transportation Office regional director, said the DOTr will standardize the requirements for its training and education.

Abaton the technical working group, which he chairs, is currently drafting the criteria on the changes in the issuance of driver’s license.

“There will be changes in the procedure in the issuance of student permit and drivers’ license,” he added.

He said the revise requirement will include the mandatory 15-hour theoretical instruction course on traffic rules and regulations and manual on Filipino drivers.

He said that non-professional drivers’ license holders must secure a certification from the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority to be able to acquire professional license.

He said the revision in the procedure in the issuance of divers’ license will address the issue on the lack of disciplined drivers. (SunStar Philippines)
