Sungduan: 7th IAM

IGOROT athletes and sports enthusiasts in the United States are set to converge for the 7th Igorot Athletic Meet (IAM) organized by Benguet Organization of California.

Benguet Organization president Rocky Ocab, a resident of Los Angles with his wife Jesusa, said the meet set on August 31 to September 2 aims to strengthen the friendship among all Igorots who are now based in the different part of the United States.

It is also an event where they can show their warm welcome to fellow Cordillerans who just migrated in America and let them feel at home abroad.

“It is having our meeting and having communication to each other, getting together just for fun and at the same time meet the new comers from our hometown,” Ocab who traces his roots in Baguio-La Trinidad said.

Dubbed “Playing Together with Camaraderie and Fun” the much-anticipated sports event will be held at Dee Hardison Sports Center, 2400 Jefferson St. Torrance, California.

The competitions include basketball, volleyball, softball, tug of war and other indigenous games such as the kadang-kadang.

Expected to join the competitions are delegates from Benguet 13, Bibak Arizona, Bibak Los Angeles, Bibak Las Vegas, Bibak San Diego, and COIE.

Engaging in such activity will make one feel a sense of community and develop a lasting friendship with fellow kailians.
