THREE suspects involved in stealing motorcycles were arrested in separate operations in the cities of Danao and Naga, Cebu.

On Tuesday, Aug. 27, 2019, Danao City police arrested John Karl Granada Vergara, who is 31 and a resident of Barangay Buhisan, Cebu City. Caught along with him was a 17-year-old minor.

The suspects were allegedly involved in stealing a black motorcycle in Barangay Baliang. Their third companion, identified as Niño Castro, evaded arrest.

Police caught the suspects in a checkpoint placed on the national highway, an hour after motorcycle owner Jemson Almaden reported the theft.

Vergara and the minor tried to elude the police officers, who were quick to catch them.

After receiving information from the two suspects about Castro’s involvement, police pursued Castro in Barangay Cabungahan. The suspect evaded them.

Aside from recovering Almaden’s motorcycle, police said they also recovered a .45 pistol from Vergara.

Past 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 28, the Naga City Police Station Highway Patrol Group 7 personnel caught Ronald Segovia, 25, in Barangay Balirong.

The personnel implemented the warrant of arrest against Segovia for stealing a motorcycle. The suspect is a resident of Barangay Sibago, Sibonga town.

Naga City police chief Maj. Jason Villamater described Segovia as the “notorious leader” of a group that steals motorcycles in southern Cebu, and he is the HPG 7’s fifth most wanted person. Pinamungajan Police Station also listed Segovia first in its most wanted list of personalities. (from BBT of Superbalita Cebu/JKV)
