MANDAUE City’s traffic enforcement group, the Traffic Enforcement Agency of Mandaue (Team), has apprehended two trailers since it started implementing clamping operations against truck and big vehicles on Monday, Aug. 26, 2019.
The two trailers were chained after these were discovered illegally parked along A. Soriano Ave.
Though the trailers had no prime movers attached to them, Team Chief Florentino Nimor said they decided to chain the trailers as these were obstructing the movement of vehicles in the area, especially during the night.
They used chains since the clamps wouldn’t fit on the trailers’ wheels.
To have the chains removed, the drivers will have to pay a penalty of P1,000 each for obstruction.
Nimor said they decided to intensify their operations as they found that some truck drivers had become complacent because they thought Team could not clamp their vehicles because of their size.
“Some are even using the road as their personal parking space, especially truck drivers. They think that we can’t clamp or tow their vehicles, but we can chain their trucks,” Nimor said in Cebuano.
Aside from the two trailers, Team personnel issued citation tickets to 20 truck drivers for stopping in no-stopping zones.
Nimor assured the public that his office would continue their operations against illegally parked trucks, while the City Government is in the process of amending its ordinance that will include clamping small vehicles. (from ANV of Superbalita Cebu/JKV)
