THE Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) reported that a low pressure area (LPA), which is expected to bring rains in some areas in the country, was spotted east of Aparri, Cagayan.

As of 10 a.m. Friday, August 30, the weather disturbance was last seen at 485 kilometers east of Aparri. It will bring scattered light to moderate to at times heavy rains over Cagayan, Isabela, Quirino, and northern Aurora.

Pagasa said, though, that the LPA is less likely to develop into a tropical depression in the next 48 hours.

But the weather bureau advised the public and disaster risk reduction and management offices to take precautionary measures and to monitor for updates. (EZN/SunStar Philippines)
