CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- Some P25 million has been allocated to jumpstart the infrastructure requirements of a new state university satellite campus in Pampanga.
Another campus of the Don Honorio Ventura State University (DHVSU) will rise in Candaba town, as Governor Dennis Pineda signed the memorandum of agreement (MOA) for the establishment of the new site with DHVSU president Enrique Baking.
The Capitol's news arm -- Provincial Information Office -- reported that the MOA was signed at the Candaba Trade Center on Thursday, August 29.
The campus will be built in a 2.3-hectare property in Sitio Pansol, Barangay Pasig here, near the boundary of Sta. Ana, Arayat and San Luis towns to enable more would-be students to access the school.
Under the agreement, the local government unit of Candaba will provide P4 million "by way of continuing appropriation in its annual budget and grant this to DHVSU to cover personal service payments (P2,000,000) and expenses relating to the operation of the extension campus such as for utilities, renovation, and improvement of facilities and other related expenditures P2,000,000."
Candaba Mayor Rene Maglanque also revealed that he appealed to the Municipal Council, through Vice Mayor Michael Sagum, to realign and allocate additional P25 million budget for the realization of the project.
DHVTSU, formerly Don Honorio Ventura College of Arts and Trade, became a state university on December 9, 2009 under Republic Act 9832, through the initiative of Third District Representative Aurelio Gonzales Jr., who has been credited as the father of DHVTSU.
The university was later renamed to Don Honorio Ventura State University upon the revision of certain provisions of its charter.
The state university has campuses in Santo Tomas, Mexico, Porac and Lubao.
