SOMMY Managor and Jules Langres hit some clutch baskets down the stretch to lift the University of San Carlos Warriors past the University of Southern Philippines Foundation Panthers, 80-75, in overtime, in the 2019 Cesafi men’s basketball tournament on Sunday, at the Cebu Coliseum.

With USPF up, 75-74, after two free-throws by Sameen Swint, Managor fished a foul on USC’s offensive and calmly sank two from the line to give the Warriors back the lead with 1:03 to go.

Then, after USPF’s Karl Langahin missed a corner triple, Langres quickly leaked out, received the outlet pass and scored an unmolested layup to raise USC’s lead to three, 78-75, with 33.5 seconds remaining.

Langahin missed another three-point try from the opposite corner and Managor sealed USC’s win with two made free-throws with 17 seconds remaining.

Managor led the Warriors with 28 points while Langres finished with 16 markers.

USC was up 10, 54-44, at the start of the fourth canto and was still up, 65-59, with two minutes remaining. However, the Panthers clawed their way back into the game to tie it up at 65-all after fadeaway jumper by Swint and consecutive layups by RR Cauba, the equalizing one coming off a great assist from Neon Chavez with 12.7 ticks left in the game.

It was fierce affair that saw numerous skirmishes. USC wingman Roosvelt Jellianggao got ejected early in the third for retaliating with a closed fist during a clash with Cauba. (ML)
