THE 2011-Chioson Development Corp. handed the 2013-iPak/Roble Shipping its first defeat of the season, 78-68, in Division C of the 2019 Sacred Heart Ateneo Alumni Basketball Athletic Association (SHAABAA) Cebu Landmasters Cup on Sunday at the Magis Eagles Arena in Canduman, Mandaue City.
Batch 2011 pounced early, zooming ahead, 25-8, to set the tone for the impressive win. Bernard Chioson led the way for the winning side with 22 points and 13 rebounds while Phil Quiñanola added 17 points. Bradley Bacaltos added 15 points, eight rebounds and seven assists while Franz Gabuya chipped in 14 to bump their win-loss record to 3-1.
Batch 2013 dropped to 5-1.
In other Division C matches, the 2015-Storage Town defeated Batch 2018, 67-55, for their fourth win in five games. Niño Araw-Araw paced 2015 with 18 points, while big man Adrison Gaviola added 12 points and nine boards.
Meanwhile, the 2012-Pioneer Auto Supply routed the 2010-Casino Ethyl Alcohol, 100-78. The game was tied at 18-all until 2012 asserted itself in the second canto with a 30-11 outburst to erect a 48-27 lead at halftime. Mavii Suarez and Dandan Tecson had 21 points apiece while Patrick Go registered an incredible triple-double of 18 points, 14 rebounds and 12 assists.
In Division B, the 2005-Bizol gained a share of the lead after defeating the 2008-Sunpride Foods Inc., 101-79. Elddie Cabahug, SHAABAA’s most proficient scorer, exploded for 38 points and 10 rebounds in the lopsided victory.
Batch 2004 also came up with a 111-67 win over the 2002-KJO Prints. Franco Te spearheaded the charge with a triple-double of 19 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists in just 20 minutes of action.
Batch 2005, 2008 and 2004 all share the top spot with identical 4-1 cards.
Close behind is the 2000-Core Pacific, which beat the 2006-Laptap Enterprises/ Prince Warehouse, 71-65, for their third win in four outings. Serg Go Bui led 2000 with 22 points and 14 rebounds while Joseph Lo grabbed a whopping 17 boards to help his team come up with the victory.
In Division A, the 1990-Bayfront Hotel handed the 1999-Autolab its first loss with a 55-46 win. Joel Co and Dave Lim were 1990’s high-point men with 20 and 13 points, respectively.
The 1995-BELAZ/Air Spencer also beat the 1994-Vivant Corenergy, 69-60, while the 1998-GEF Inc. /FWD Insurance crushed the 1989-ChickPhil, 62-38. (JNP)
