November arts festival on

BAGUIO City Tourism Officer Alec Mapalo revealed plans for the November creative festival set in the pine city.

Mapalo said the November event dubbed as IBag-iw (formerly Entacool) will be led by the Baguio Arts and Creative Council (Bacci) and festival creative director director Karlo Altomonte.

He said the creative festival will partner with artists and craftsmen through BACCI spearheading the preparation for the seven-day activity.

Mapalo said arts activities will be done at the Diplomat Hotel and he assured that these will have significance in arts, culture and heritage.

"We do not want to have activities for just one day but on a daily basis with several activities," he said.

The tourism officer said various crafts will be showcased in the different rooms of the former hotel, which will be transformed into a creative hub.

During the weeklong celebration, various areas in the city will also schedule their own events in support of the festival with UP Baguio scheduling a workshop and convergence for Asean craftsmen with a bazaar and forum.

The Department of Tourism will also launch creative circuit tour of the city that will focus on creative hubs for both private and public areas.

A weaving exhibition, as well as a fashion show and musical will also be featured by Habi with private galleries opening exhibits on that period.

Last year, the Baguio International art fest dubbed EntaCool was launched. It was coined from the word "Entaku," which means lets go, and "Cool," which denotes Baguio as a cool place with cool people. It called on the public to celebrate cool culture and creativity.

Baguio City is part of 64 cities from 44 countries designated as Unesco Creative Cities by with the objective of fostering innovations and creativity as key drivers for a more sustainable and inclusive urban development with the November festival as the highlight for this year.

Exposure to the silver crafts industry, weaving, wood carving and cultural performance and literature unique only in Baguio City and the Cordillera Administrative Region.
