12 vehicles clamped in Mandaue

THE traffic enforcers in Mandaue City clamped 12 illegally parked vehicles on Monday morning, Sept. 2, 2019.

On the first day of implementing the clamping ordinance, the Traffic Enforcement Agency of Mandaue (Team) personnel did not show mercy to private vehicles and trucks.

The traffic enforcers found the illegally parked vehicles along FB Cabahug St., DM Cortes St. and ML Quezon Ave. They also clamped vehicles near the Cansaga Bay Bridge and in Barangay Cabancalan.

Aside from issuing citation tickets, attached to the vehicles were notices that say forcibly detaching the clamp is a criminal act.

Traffic operations head Mario Gacko said Team’s 220 personnel are not enough to fully implement the ordinance.

Before implementing the clamping ordinance, Mayor Jonas Cortes praised Team for chaining the trailer trucks that were parked along the national highway.

Clamping illegally parked vehicles helps in easing the traffic in the city, said Cortes.

Gacko said Team will continue clamping vehicles that block roads in the coming days. FROM ANV OF SUPERBALITA CEBU / KAL
