BTAO to conduct traffic experiment of southbound PUJs

THE Bacolod Traffic Authority Office (BTAO) will implement the 45 to 60 days traffic experimental rerouting of southbound public utility jeepneys (PUJs) in Bacolod City starting this week.

Acebuche said Sunday, September 1, the City Council already approved the implementation of the 45 to 60 days traffic experimental rerouting of PUJs plying Sum-ag, Pta. Taytay, Tangub, Singcang-Airport, and Magsungay.

He said the routes will be extended from Rizal Street to Gatuslao Street in South Capitol Road going to the Vendors Plaza

He added that under the traffic experiment scheme, the southbound PUJs will take Gatuslao Street, take a left turn to the San Juan Street, and turn right to Burgos Street going to the terminal at the Burgos-Ferrero streets.

BTAO will also implement a one-way traffic scheme along Manokan Country.

Acebuche said that as soon as the illegal vendors along Vendors Plaza will be removed, they will start the traffic experiment.

He said they are still waiting for the final communication from the City Legal Office for the removal of the illegal structures in the area.

The southbound PUJs have 60 slots in the Burgos-Ferrero terminal and all the PUJ routes will be given 10 slots to park in the terminal.

Acebuche said that BTAO will also impose the loading and unloading areas along SM Mall so that the passengers will go to the terminal.

"We need the cooperation of everybody to maintain the smooth flow of traffic in various areas of Bacolod especially, at the downtown area," he said.
