Miss Cagayan de Oro 2019 winner continues Capitol duties

NEWLY-CROWNED Miss Cagayan de Oro 2019 Cinderella Faye Obeñita has confirmed that she is still working as the Capitol's tourism officer despite winning the pageant.

An issue of "conflict of interest" involving Obeñita arose after the coronation night last August 24 when some netizens expressed concerns about her ability to perform her duty and responsibilities as Miss Cagayan de Oro 2019 as she is working in the Provincial Capitol.

Asked about it after Monday's (September 2) flag raising ceremony, Obeñita said she will address the issue in a proper venue.

Misamis Oriental Governor Yevgeny Emano, for his part, said he issued a memorandum that exempts Obeñita from using biometrics to time in and out of the office, so she will be able to perform her duties as Cagayan de Oro's ambassadress.

"When it comes to Misamis Oriental's part, kay empleyado man namo sya, nag-issue na ko daan og memo nga kay ila man ipagawas nga basin kuno dili kuno maka-perform sa iyang duties kay tungod empleyado sa Kapitolyo. Amo namo sya gitagaan daan og exemption sa among biometrics, so di na sya kinahanglan mo time in and out kada adlaw," Emano said.

"That's how far and how we will be supporting her so that she will be able to do what she wants to do as an ambassadress of the city of Cagayan de Oro," he added.

Emano emphasized that Obeñita is a resident of Cagayan de Oro and "she deserves to receive the crown," as she "answered very well, she did very well" and he thinks that "the judges were able to see that."

The governor also appealed to the people of the city to accept the beauty queen as despite being young, pretty and intelligent, Emano believes that Obeñita will be an asset to Cagayan de Oro City in the future.
