Tolac, Mosales edge rivals in Baguio Olympics 10-miler run

MICHEAL Tolac and Marychiel Mosales galloped their way to the finish line as they topped the male and female category of the Baguio Olympics 10-miler run which started at the historic Lions Head of Kennon Road.

Tolac clocked 1 hour 18 minutes and 45 seconds as he outpaced second placer Julius Bay-an who checked in at 1:20:00 while Radd Stephen Fullon finished the 16 kilometer uphill course with a time of one hour and 22 minutes.

Rounding out the top five male finishers are Benjo Ordome (1:23:00) and Jet Ramos who finished the run with a time of 1:25:00.

Mosales meanwhile was faster by less than 10 minutes as Nelita Badongen completed the race with a time of 1:43:06 to settle for second as Jamica Laguitao came in third after completing the course with a time of 1:43:50.

Catherine Talosig meanwhile finished fourth after clocking 1:44:22 with Arnela Mae Ellar came in fifth with a time of 1:50:36.

Special prices were also given to Kenneth Del Rosario and Jane Cangat for topping the 50-59 years category together with Foster Chongalan, Mel Maquento and Ed Fontanilla in the 60 and above category.

The running event was part of the 110th Baguio Charter Day anniversary

Engr. Aloysius Mapalo, City Tourism Officer, said the different sports events for this year’s charter anniversary were decided in close coordination with the different sports associations in the city in a bid to help in aggressively promoting sports as one of the recreational activities offered by the city to visitors.

Mapalo added the city government and the concerned sports organizations prepared the program for the different events to inspire the active participation of the people to sports-related activities to help make Baguio City one of the favourite venues for future sports events with its conducive environment for sports.

The city tourism officer encouraged more participation from sports enthusiasts and the public to join in the different sports events during this month-long celebration of the Charter anniversary of Baguio city to showcase their talents in their chosen sports.
