The 34th Kadayawan Festival capped off a few days ago. In case you missed it, some of OPM’s rising acts did not miss the chance to celebrate the month-long festival with their Dabawenyo fans.

I Belong To The Zoo

Argee Guerrero - the man behind I Belong To The Zoo performed twice during the Kadayawan.

First was during The South X Mouth Food & Music Festival 2019 at the SM City Davao, wherein he was the main act during the food festival.

SunStar Davao had the chance to have a one-on-one interview with the man behind the heartbreak anthem’s “Sana” and “Balang Araw”.

He also went back last August 16 for the Braver Moira Davao tour concert at the Azuela Cove, wherein he got to share the stage with Moira and Jay-R.

Ben&Ben

This will be the nine-piece indie folk band’s second Kadayawan performance here in Davao, this time, performing their songs from their debut album, Limasawa Street, last August 17.

Once again, they did not disappoint their Dabawenyo fans with their one-of-a-kind performance of their vibrant and chill tracks such as “Sunshine”, “Leaves”, and “War”.

Of course, fan-fave hits “Maybe The Night”, “Kathang Isip”, “Pagtingin”, and “Ride Home” were also sung as as requested by the crowd.

Unique

Solo male artist Unique Salonga (commonly known as “Unique”) finally had his first show in Davao. (Too bad it coincided with Ben&Ben’s show)

Fans were not shaken despite the heavy rain. They even sang along with some of his signature hits from his debut album “Grandma”, such as “Sino”, “Ozone (Itulak Ang Pinto), and his romantic hit “Midnight Sky”. Of course, the whole “Unique” experience won’t be complete without his breakthrough hit from his ex-band IV of Spades “Mundo”.

Silent Sanctuary

It was a night of instant throwback and “hugot” as Sarkie Sarangay and the rest of Silent Sanctuary brought down the Sta. Ana Wharf on August 18, as performed in the city for the nth time.

Sarkie shared how the Dabawenyo crowd is among their favourite in their tours around the country in the past.

Present during their setlist are their hits that Dabawenyos would not miss during videokes: “Ikaw Lamang”, “Rebound”, “Hiling”, “Sa’yo” , and “Pasensya Ka Na”.

December Avenue

From one hugot band to another, it was a cold December in August as December Avenue crushed the hearts of their Dabawenyo fans with heir “tagos sa puso” singles.

They started with the friendzone anthem “Kahit Di Mo Alam”, followed by their other hits “Bulong”, “Magkunwari Tayo”, and “Sa Ngalan Ng Pag-ibig”.

Another bonus was they premiered their Visayan version of their Moira-duet single “Kung Di Rin Lang Ikaw”.
