A VEHICULAR accident had left a police officer of the Mandaue City Police Office (MCPO) with a severed forearm after he was ran over by a prime mover truck along a corner on Cebu North Road, Barangay Canduman, Mandaue City, Wednesday evening, September 4, 2019.

The victim was identified as Police Corporal Eutiquio Soringa, a road sweeper of the Traffic Division of MCPO.

Police Major Franco Rodulf Oriol, chief of the Traffic Unit of MCPO, identified Soringa as one of his men.

He said that after Soringa left work on a motorcycle, he fetched his wife from her workplace.

While waiting for the traffic light to turn green along a corner on Cebu North Road, a prime mover truck made a blind turn in their direction.

The portion of the road was narrow and is said to be prone to accidents especially at night.

Based on inital information, Oriol said that the left forearm of Soringa was severed after he was ran over by the truck. His wife, on the other hand, sustained minor injuries.

Soringa is currently in the hospital and is under constant medical supervision.

Oriol added that they will be handing out financial assistance to Soringa to help with hospital bills.

The driver of the prime mover truck, Reynaldo Espatero, has been detained at the Canduman Police Station. (BBT of Superbalita Cebu; JGS)
