5 Lanao ‘drug dealers’ surrender to military

FIVE alleged drug dealers have surrendered to military authorities in Lanao del Sur, military officials said Friday, September 6.

Lieutenant Colonel Allan Villanueva, Army’s 49th Infantry Battalion commander, said the five drug dealers, whose identities were withheld, surrendered to his troops around 11 a.m. Thursday in Masiu town, Lanao del Sur.

Villanueva said the five drug personalities, involved in the trade of illegal drugs, have surrendered through the effort of Masiu Mayor Nasser Pangandaman and the police authorities.

They turned over four firearms consisting of three handguns, one improvised rifle grenade, magazines and ammunition.

“This (surrender) is the result of our continued partnership with the local government units and collaboration with the law enforcement agencies,” said Brigadier General Romeo Brawner Jr., Army’s 103rd Infantry Brigade commander.

Brawner vowed that they will continuously support the police in its effort on law enforcement operation in order to sustain the peace and security in Lanao del Sur. (Bong Garcia/SunStar Philippines)
