GITINGUHA sa Cebu City Government nga mapreserba ang mga local historical landmarks, monumento, shrines, museum ug ubang cultural heritage sa siyudad.
Si Cebu City Councilor Joel Garganera niduso sa iyang proposed ordinance nga “Cultural heritage site declaration , protection and preservation ordinance of Cebu City.”
Ang mga nag-unang landmark nga nalakip sa ordinansahon ni Garganera mao ang Magellan’s Cross, Basilica Minore del Sto. Niño, Fort San Pedro, Cebu Metropolitan Cathedral, Casa Gorrordo, Jesuit House, Yap-Sandiego Ancestral House, Plaza Independencia, Museo Sugbo, Heritage of Cebu Monument, Malacañan sa Sugbu ug Estero Parian.
Gibase sa opisyal ang iyang proposed ordinance sa Sections 14 – 17, Article 14 sa 1987 Constitution nga natala: “Mandate the state to conserve, develop, promote and preserve the nation’s historical and cultural heritage, artistic amd historic treasures and shall be responsible in the regulation and protection of such.”
Dugang ni Garganera na mahinungdanon nga mapasar ang maong ordinansa sanglit nagsingabot na ang ika-500 ka tuig nga anibersaryo sa pagkahimong Kristiyanismo sa Pilipinas ug dinhi sa Sugbo.
Kon ma-aprobahan ang maong ordinansa, did-an na unya sa pagtukod og mga gasoline station, crematorium, morgue nga mahimutang sulod sa 500 meter radius gikan sa historical and cultural site ug landmark. Dili usab tugotan nga ang establisemento nga adunay produkto nga toxic chemical waste ug ubang flammable materials sa maong gilay-on.
Did-an na usab ang mga heavy equipment ug dagko nga mga sakyanan nga maka-agi duol sa maong mga cultural ug heritage site sa katuyoan nga dili maapektohan ang ilang pundasyon sama diha sa Basilica ug Cathedral. (PAC)
