IPM Construction seeks extension anew

THE IPM Construction and Development Corp. (IPM-CDC) has asked the City Government of Bacolod for the extension of the period of completion of cell no.2 at the sanitary landfill site in Barangay Felisa from August 30 to November 12, 2019.

Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran said Friday, September 6, that Mayor Evelio Leonardia endorsed the request of IPM-CDC to the city council on Wednesday for an extension of time from August 30 to November 12 to finish the completion of cell no.2 at the sanitary landfill in Barangay Felisa.

He said the IPM-CDC’s request was already referred to Councilor Dindo Ramos, chairperson of the city council committee on laws.

He added this is the second time that the IPM-CDC has requested for the extension of the period of completion of cell no.2 at the sanitary landfill site.

In April, the City Council has approved the request of IPM-CDC for the extension of the period of completion of cell no. 2 from April 30 to August 30 which the project supposedly to be finished on April 30.

On December 17, 2018, IPM-CDC president Isabelita Mercado sent a letter to Mayor Leonardia informing the city regarding the difficulty to start the excavation and requested to transfer the site for the construction of cell no.2 but still within the area of the sanitary landfill in Barangay Felisa.

In her letter to Leonardia dated April 2, Mercado said that upon recommendation of the Solid Waste Management Board (SWMB) and as per checking the evaluation conducted by the technical personnel of the City Engineering Office (CEO), they are offering a new modified plan and design of the project while it maintains the original contract of P49, 810,444.25.

“This means that, although the modification of the project may entail the additional cost of P1.7 million, said amount will not however be charged to the city as additional cost,” he said. (MAP)
