Military officials condemns Isulan bombing

TOP military officials in the region have strongly condemned the treacherous bombing that injured seven people even as they urged call for public vigilance in the province of Sultan Kudarat.

The bombing with the use of improvised explosive device (IED) happened around 7 a.m. Saturday at the public market of Isulan, Sultan Kudarat.

“We criticize and condemn the latest IED attack in Isulan that victimized not only our forces who dutifully perform their mandated task but also the civilians who were in the vicinity of the explosion,” said Colonel Efren Baluyot, Army’s 1st Mechanized Infantry Brigade commander.

The IED was placed beside the parking area of motorcycles and was purportedly carried out by lawless elements.

Lieutenant Colonel Omar Orozo, Army’s 2nd Mechanized Infantry Battalion commander, immediately deployed troops to secure and cordon the area.

“I enjoin everyone to offer their prayers for the speedy recovery of the victims and for the enlightenment of the perpetrators who aim to undermine the stability of Sultan Kudarat,” said Lieutenant General Cirilito Sobejana, Western Mindanao Command (Westmincom) chief.

“Let us be more vigilant and immediately report any suspicious person or things in your vicinity to avoid such occurrence,” Sobejana added.

Thorough investigation of the incident is still being conducted by the joint elements of the military and police. (Bong Garcia/SunStar Philippines)
