YOU do not need to spend a lot just to enjoy delicious Indian food.

The commercial strip outside the Davao Medical School Foundation is slowly becoming a popular destination for delicious and authentic Indian dishes.

Last time, I had a wonderful meal at Haveli King. For this recent trip to the area, Isa and I found ourselves having a flavorful brunch at Indian Spice. Just like Haveli King, Indian Spice is also an air-conditioned carinderia.

We ordered Chili Chicken (P90), Butter Chicken (P90), Chicken Tikka (P50/stick), Basmati Rice (P90), Plain Naan (P40), Butter Naan (P50), and Samosa (P20/piece). For dessert, we had Milk Barfi (P40/slice) and Gulab Jamun (P15/piece).

The Butter Chicken was the highlight of the meal. It was buttery and flavorful. It was one spoonful of Butter Chicken and basmati rice after another.

The Chili Chicken was also delicious. I just love how spicy it was.

I also love the kick of lime from the Chicken Tikka, which was wonderfully cooked.

We also enjoyed the Samosa. I liked that it was not very oily.

We also loved their naan here. The naan’s thickness was just right. I just love the hint of sweetness we get from the naan as it adds another layer of flavor when we eat it with the any of the three chicken dishes we ordered.

As expected from the Indian desserts, the Gulab Jamun and the Milk Barfi were very sweet. Eating Milk Barfi was like eating a cake of condensed milk. I had to stop eating after two bites because of how sweet it was.

In contrast, the Gulab Jamun was more tolerable when it comes to its sweetness. This is fried dough dunked in sugar syrup. The Gulab Jamun tastes similar to the leche flan but less caramelly.

The meal at Indian Spice was memorable. The food was good overall and the price was very affordable. Visit them at the commercial strip outside DMSF. They are just a couple of doors away from 7/11.
