‘Most wanted person’ nabbed in Leyte

POLICE arrested on Sunday, September 8, the most wanted person in Bato, Leyte.

Authorities identified the suspect as Joel Paran, 21, laborer and resident of Barangay Can-aporong, Abuyog, Leyte.

He was arrested by operatives from Bato Municipal Police Station and Regional Special Operations Group (RSOG)-Eastern Visayas at about 7:30 a.m. Saturday, September 7, in Barangay Tabunok in Bato town.

Police said Paran was arrested based on warrants of arrest dated September 2, 2019 for violation of Republic Act (RA) 10883 (New Anti-Carnapping Act of 2016) and for qualified theft.

The warrants were issued by Carlos Arguelles, acting presiding judge of Regional Trial Court Branch 10, in Abuyog.

Bail was recommended at P300,000 for RA 10883 and P30,000 for qualified theft, police said.

The suspect was brought to Bato Municipal Police Station for documentation and proper disposition prior to turnover to the court. (Ronald O. Reyes/SunStar Philippines)
