Abrigo: Subject for correction

“IF THERE is smoke, there is fire.” Witnesses said freedom is not free in Bureau of Corrections (BuCor), it is peddled at P50 thousand up to P1 million, socialized. But in spite of the “mafia” inside the bureau, BuCor will never become a Bureau of Corruption.

P1 million bounty per head of a convict (dead or alive) if they refuse to submit themselves back to the facility within 15 days. When the BuCor released the 1,914 convicts of heinous crimes for having good behavior, parang na wow mali lang, after all the bureau stand corrected, thus, Bureau of Corrections.

Ten high-profiled inmates including those who testified against Senator Leila De Lima were transferred on June 12, from the New Bilibid Prison in Muntinlupa to the Philippine Marine Barracks Rudiardo Brown in Taguig; not by court order but upon the order of President Rodrigo Duterte. The president’s rationale: “Because I was scared that De Lima would have more henchmen and witnesses. They will really be killed. By then no one would be able to tell the truth.”

Ruperto Traya, Administrative Officer 3 of BuCor, was shot dead on August 27, 2019 in Poblacion, Muntinlupa city. His name was mentioned by witness Yolanda Camelon in a Senate inquiry in relation to GCTA tradeoff. Kumbaga, “dead man tells no tale.” Tama si presidente, “By then no one would be able to tell the truth.”

Without pretense, president Duterte said “Faeldon is a good man...I still believe in him.” Faeldon’s record says he was the former chief of the Bureau of Customs but stepped down following the hullabaloo of P6.4 billion worth of smuggled shabu from China. Rewind, he was one of the mutineers belonging to Magdalo group with Trillanes and Alejano. Fast forward, he was fired by President Duterte on September 4 for releasing a thousand convicts of heinous crimes without the DOJ’s approval.

When Tagum city was the “pay in” capital of the Philippines, police confirmed negligible figure of crimes to zero crime. But when the investment schemes were outlawed, there were no “pay outs” and the spate of killing surmised. Hence, it’s “payback time!”

The Department of Health (DOH) distributed free mosquito nets, soused to deet, a chemical that deters mosquitos. DOH must be aware that Aedes Aegypti mosquito (vector of dengue) is a day biting mosquito, most active to prick two hours after sunrise and several hours before sunset. Therefore, only toddlers and nannies who used to stay at home on daytime would likely be the survivors from dengue. Does the distribution of these mosquito nets make sense? What about the children in school and the working force?
