Pioneer beats Storagetown

THE up-and-down campaign of the 2012-Pioneer Auto Supply continued as they defeated the 2015-StorageTown, 74-65, in Division C of the Sacred Heart Ateneo Alumni Basketball Athletic Association (SHAABAA) Cebu Landmasters Cup on Sunday, Sept. 8, 2019 at the Magis Eagles Arena in Canduman, Mandaue City.

Patrick Go led 2012 in scoring with 18 points while big man Julius Cadavis added 13 points and 14 rebounds. In all, 2012 lorded over the boards, outrebounding 2015, 57-40, to help them improve to 3-2 and pull 2015 down to 4-1.

In other Division C games, the 2013-iPak/Roble Shipping raised their record to a league-best 5-1 after beating Batch 2018, 84-62. Eman Malazarte recorded a rare triple-double for Batch 2013 as he had 21 points, 10 rebounds and 11 assists.

The 2009-CrossFit Subtero also routed the 2010-Casino Ethyl Alcohol, 89-61, as Kyle Valmoria narrowly missed out on his own triple-double with 18 points, nine rebounds and nine assists.

In Division B, the 2000-Core Pacific edged the 2008-Sunpride Foods Inc., 64-62. Serg Go Bui tallied 26 points and 11 rebounds, Dave Ting had 14 markers while Joseph Lo hauled down 17 rebounds in the close win.

The 2005-Bizol beat the 2002-KJO Prints, 81-73, behind Aaron Uy’s 32 points and seven rebounds. The 2007-Topline Ferries routed the 2006-Laptap Enterprises/ Prince Warehouse, 75-56, thanks to Brennon Gothong’s all-around performance of 17 points, six rebounds and three assists.

In Division A, the 1999-AutoLAB continued to reign in the standings after they crushed the 1994-Vivant Corenergy, 93-45. Big man Robert Gilo recorded a double-double of 25 points and 11 rebounds in 1999’s dominant showing.

Dave Lim also produced a triple-double of 19 points, 12 rebounds and 11 assists to push the 1990-Bayfront to an 81-65 defeat of the 1989-ChickPhil. And finally, the 1996-FWD Insurance won over the 1998-GEF Inc./FWD Insurance, 68-65. (JNP)
