GAC Motors start strong

THE GAC Motors kicked off their campaign in the Duterte Basketball League Season 7 with a rousing 63-53 win over Ecoform Inc. on Sunday, Sept. 8, 2019, at the Capitol Parish Gym in Cebu City.

Former Philippine Basketball Assocation (PBA) player Danny Aying led the way for GAC Motors with 13 points. With the tournament now touting a semi-open format, GAC Motors is considered to be one of the title favorites with the presence of several commercial league standouts in Abe Galinato and Ope Abellana as well as former Cesafi All Stars Allan Dimco, Joshua dela Cerna and John Lucena.

Meanwhile, the three-time defending champions Lycans also had a victorious debut as they nipped NJEB Construction, 66-65. John Ortiz had 13 points, two rebounds and three steals while Jeff Alpone contributed 10 points, six rebounds, two steals and a block.

Penthel meanwhile, beat Paragsa, 68-59. Jamjam Belocura led the charge with 16 points while Ruben Ludovice flirted with a double-double of nine points and seven rebounds. Ludovice—the former University of Cebu big man—was also a pest on the defensive end as he tallied two steals and two blocks. (JNP)
