TODDLERS mimic adults from facial expressions to movements and even choice of words.

This is what I have observed from our one-year-old Yanna. Hence, I have always been cautious of my actions and words in front of her.

I am also taking advantage of her age and innocence to teach her good manners.

In order to teach good manners to our children, we must be good examples.

One of the basic GMRC lessons that each child should learn are the magic words — please, thank you, and sorry.

I love listening to Yanna when she tries say “please,” tekyoo,” and “soreee.”

We initiate by saying “please” whenever she wants something. She sometimes forgets but we see to it that we always remind her.

Then, we tell her “thank you.” She follows and even copies the intonation. Just imagine her smiling while uttering with her tiny voice “tekyooo!”

“Sorry” is Yanna’s favorite magic word. She will never forget to say sorry whenever she hurts somebody or even herself. She would also say this magic word whenever somebody teases her or she is not comfortable, so that person would also ask her forgiveness. Cute, right? :)

It’s never too late to teach magic words to our children. They must be courteous and polite as young as they are. Practice is the key. We must also be good examples to them as they consider us as their role models.
