P755,000 shabu seized in Bata

AN ESTIMATED P755,000 worth of shabu or methamphetamine hydrochloride was seized in a drug bust conducted by operatives of Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) Drugs Enforcement Unit in Purok Pinetree, Barangay Bata Sunday evening, September 8.

The operation led to the arrest of five drug personalities identified as Jose June Codico, Kamel Benitez, Roel Amonin, Francis Mark Rito, and John Batosin. All of the suspects are from Bacolod City.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Ariel Pico, spokesperson of BCPO, said the subject of the operation were Codico and Benitez. The two suspects were arrested after they sold a sachet of shabu to a police undercover around 11:50 p.m.

Pico said the suspects' companions, Amonin, Rito, and Batosin, were also cornered in the area.

Recovered from the suspects were 14 sachets of shabu weighing 50 grams, the P1,000 marked money, a digital weighing scale, an improvised handmade shotgun with four live ammunition, and drug paraphernalia.

The suspects are detained at the custodial facility of Police Station 3 and are facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
