Fernandina heroine remembered

THE City Government of San Fernando remembered last September 2 the life and struggles of Fernandina heroine Nicolasa Dayrit-Panlilio during her 145th birth anniversary commemoration at Heroes Hall.

Several activities were all set for the week-long celebration, including the "Search for the Best Story Tellers on Nicolasa Dayrit-Panlilio Life and Struggles," which was held at the amphitheater of Heroes Hall.

Students from different public schools in the city showcased their communication skills by delivering passages on the life and struggles of Dayrit-Panlilio.

Vinni Panlilio-Luciano, the heroine's descendant, was one of the board of judges, together with Dr. Leticia Yap, chairman of the Local Council of Women, and City Tourism Officer Ching Pangilinan.

San Isidro Integrated School defeated the nine other participating schools in the said competition.

The month of September is truly delightful for Fernandinas as the City Government of San Fernando annually celebrates "Women's Week" to recognize their vital roles in society.
