Security in place for industrial summit in Oro

PHIVIDEC Industrial Authority (PIA) Administrator Franklin Quijano said security concerns are not an issue in the upcoming first ever Industrial Summit in Mindanao in November 26-28.

Quijano said he is confident that the government is led by a president who confronts issue instead of dismissing it.

"We need the security sector of course, but more important than these issues of risk, unsay atong direction kay ang risks naa man na, but ang direction should be defined," Quijano said.

So far, he said no one from the participants expressed worry over security issues.

At present, the Police Regional Office in Northern Mindanao has strengthened its security measures amid the suicide bombing in Western Mindanao.

But Camp Alagar spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Mardy Hortillosa assured the public that Cagayan de Oro and the region as a whole are safe and will continue to be.

The summit, organized by the Phividec Industrial Estate in Misamis Oriental Industries Association Inc., is poised to be the biggest event in the country to discuss the state of industrialization in the Philippines.
