ANTI-NARCOTICS agents seized around P1.2 million worth of illegal drugs in a drug bust in Iligan City on Monday, September 9.

Authorities arrested a certain Mahdi Lucas Mapandi, also known as Mapandi Michael Lucas, 40, a resident of Sagrayan, Lanao del Sur; and Cosary Amintao Azis alias Mama Arab, 25, of Marawi, Lanao del Sur.

The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)-Northern Mindanao said the two were considered high-value targets.

Confiscated from the two were a medium sachet of substance believed to be shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride) worth around P6,000 and another 350 grams of shabu placed in two knot-tied plastic cellophanes and worth P1.2 million.

The operation was jointly carried out by the Camiguin Provincial Police Office, Lanao del Norte Provincial Police Office, and the Iligan City Police.

The drug suspects are now detained and will face drug charges, while PDEA agents are looking into their other possible involvements in the illegal drug trade.

This is the second operation led by PDEA this month. Last week, agents also arrested two drug personalities in Barangay Balulang, Cagayan de Oro City, and arrested two drug personalities.
