THE Chinese and Christian community in Bacolod City, Negros Occidental gathered to listen to Dr. Samuel Wang, an international evangelist, teacher, and author about the ancient Chinese wisdom for modern people who is holding a three-day symposium at SMX Convention Center every 6:30 p.m. from September 8 to 11, 2019.
He came to Bacolod upon the invitation of the Adventist Community in Bacolod City and Negros Occidental through the Bacolod Adventist Medical Center.
Bacolod City Mayor Evelio R. Leonardia and other Chinese Filipino leaders came to listen to his preaching about topics on the Important Things, Oneness with Heaven, Slightest Difference, Insurmountable Discrepancy, and the Great Harmonious Work.
In a gist, he shared that the Chinese ideal about Oneness with Heaven shows that the Chinese realize that man is separated from God. Some think that we are God and some think that God is in us. Some think that we and God co-exist. But we come to this world, we stay here for a very short time and we leave. This means that we come here without seeing God and we will leave without seeing God. Somehow, we need to be awakened up that we are separated from heaven. We are separated from God. Though they are dreaming that God is in you. Even the prayer when Jesus called his disciples to pray whom they said, God who is in heaven, you can be in God and God can be invited in you but as naturally, we were born separately from God. The Chinese also realized that man can be brought back to one with God. Chinese are very relational. We want to have good relations with our family, with our friends, with nature, relationship with yourself and with the God of Heaven. The Chinese put a lot of emphasis on the relationship. Chinese also realized that it is possible to reunite with God.
Dr. Wang also spoke about conscience as the voice of God. It is a mandate or will of heaven. We need to recognize heaven first. Heaven does not destroy anyone but gives you a way that you can enjoy life forever.
Sin is to be destroyed so that man can re-establish his relationship with God. Sickness also comes from one's mouth. It invites trouble when one uses his mouth in the wrong way.
He said it takes two years to learn how to speak. But it takes a lifetime for one to learn not to speak.
Moreover, Dr. Wang was born in China and was converted from the Hare Krishna movement in China. After being converted, his passion for reaching the Chinese community has always been his burden. Some of his literary works include "God and the Ancient Chinese," "Back to the Beginning for an Enlightened Life," and "Intriguing Connections: the Dharma and the Gospel."
