UB tops Baguio Day kickboxing tilt

UNIVERSITY of Baguio (UB) struck six golds to lead the cast of winners in kickboxing tournament of the Baguio Olympics as part of the month long Baguio Charter anniversary recently.

Jetro Camayang lead UB after topping the 55kg novice category with Robina Cañon and Maria Alexandra Tinosan adding two more in the 60 kg category with Chauvin Wacdagan (51 kg advance) and Jomar Balangui (advance) also winning in their respective weight class.

Daryl Chulipas meanwhile harvested the gold in the 52 – 54 kg advance category.

TEAM Lakay meanwhile took home five gold medals from Francis Calawa who won in the novice 32-35 kg while Jesper Buccahan dominated the 55 kg novice class together with Rey Mapili (51 kg novice), Fralyn Crispin (50 – 52 kg novice) and Eddie Panganiban (60 kg novice).

Scorpion Martial Arts meanwhile had three gold medals courtesy of Quentin Sayap (55 kg novice), Richard Patawig (55 kg novice) and Deni Daytaca (55 kg novice) in the tournament supported by the City Government of Baguio, Northern Luzon Kickboxing Alliance, and Samahang Kickboxing ng Pilipinas.

UB – Kafagway brought home two gold medals courtesy of Rosemarie Recto in the 55 kg advance category and Xavier Villanueva.

Also winning two gold medals from San Vicente National High School are John Cris Buentipo and Colin John Banusan.

Other gold medalists in the contest are Jerry Cadiwan (Guisad Valley National High School), Joenil Pandagos (SUAT Camp), Arsenio Balisacan (MP Highland), and Rodel Nguepan (MAX Fusion-Kafagway Fitness Center).

Special awards were given to Robina Cañon of UB and Janel Benzon of Tribal Torogi as best female boxer in the novice and advance division.

Best male boxer meanwhile went to Rodel Nguepan of MAX Fusion-KFC (novice) and Daryl Chulipas of UB.
