Chimes: 15 and Flying!

EVERY business has a goal, and every brand has a dream.

For Chimes Boutiques, that dream was to be the luxury shopping destination in Davao.

Fifteen years later, the dream has been realized.

When it first opened its doors in 2004, its vision was to re-invent the Davaoeños shopping experience and become a shopping mecca of unique finds, offering a curated assortment of high quality, local and international brands that would respond to, if not exceed, the expectations of the discriminate shopper.

This passion for retail stemmed from what started as a Yap family venture – one textile outlet that has evolved into a conglomerate of 17 hypermart outlets, five department stores, and 116 convenience stores.

Chimes in the now

Under the wing of the second generation Yaps, Chimes also grew and now boasts three branches and a strong following of shoppers at each of these locations: Chimes Flagship along Governor Sales located in the center of Chinatown; Chimes Abreeza located at the second level of Abreeza Mall, and Chimes Felcris Centrale, housed in the newest lifestyle and business hub south of Davao City.

Now, Chimes has become the purveyor of hard to find, sought-after brands – brands that, back then, were only accessible through trips abroad or as favors from friends and family who traveled. Suffice to say, whenever something new and fresh arrived, shoppers always knew to make that trip to Chimes and there it would be.

Ready, Jet Set, Go!

Travel has been such an integral part of the Chimes story – whether through sourcing trips that bring back one-of-a-kind finds or simply as inspiration for what next to offer at the specialty store – that it is the core of its 15th anniversary celebration.

“We’ve always looked far and wide to find brands and novelties that will delight our customer,” shares Cindy Yap, chief executive officer of Chimes Boutiques and the senior vice president of Felcris Group of Companies. “Shopping is such a memorable experience when you are abroad – you discover and experience new things, and that’s what we want to our customers to feel when they shop at Chimes.”

After 15 years of bringing the brands home to Davao, Chimes now wants to share that thrill of travel with its customers. To celebrate this milestone, Chimes unveiled “Ready, Jet Set, Go!” - its 15th anniversary promo wherein it is giving away trips to three international destinations. A purchase of PhP3,000 entitles customers to a raffle coupon and a chance to win trips for two to Hong Kong, South Korea, and Japan. As a special bonus, Chimes Premier cardholders get 2X raffle coupons.

The first stop of the Chimes anniversary promo – Hong Kong – is a fitting choice. This dynamic city of east-meets-west is Asia’s shopping destination after all. Hong Kong weaves Western and Asian influence into a world-class center of business, culture, and trade. The destination was recently raffled off to a lucky shopper, but two other destinations are waiting to be won.

Next up is South Korea which has fast became a go-to destination for those seeking all things fun, colorful, and new. The place buzzes with the vibrance of youth. South Korea also boasts the latest in beauty and skincare.

Finally, Japan is also a favorite destination because it provides the balance between city and country with a collection of both metropolitan delights and a laidback atmosphere. Its curated scenic spots and experiences appeals to all ages.

“We can’t think of any other way of thanking our loyal patrons,” says Cindy, “than by sharing the travel experience that has enabled us to make Chimes what it is today.” She speaks not only of the specialty store’s hundreds of brands, but also its one-of-its-kind personalized service, honed and perfected over the years.
