Alcoseba wants City Hall to streamline offices

WANT a more efficient Cebu City Hall? Then better clean house.

The Cebu City Council is encouraging Mayor Edgardo Labella to implement good housekeeping practices to streamline and hasten the delivery of government services.

Councilor Raul Alcoseba wants Mayor Labella to implement 5S--which stands for Sort, Systematize, Sweep, Standardize and Sustain--to improve government services.

“It has been observed that most of the offices in Cebu City Hall, both in the executive and legislative departments, are congested due to unnecessary things inside the offices, cluttered set up of work stations and slow retrieval of requested documents,” Alcoseba said in his resolution.

Alcoseba is also asking Labella to implement a Civil Service Commission memo regarding the dress code of the employees.

“It has been observed that most of the Cebu City Government employees do not wear the prescribed uniform. It is understandable that there are newly hired employees but they should be given the proper dress code for uniformity and for the employees to be easily distinguished by the transacting public,” Alcoseba said in his resolution.

Alcoseba wants male employees to wear white polo shirt and black slacks and female employees to wear white blouse and black skirt or pants from Monday to Thursday. On Friday, employees are encouraged to wear casual smart attire.

The two resolutions of Alcoseba were approved by the Council, which was led by acting Vice Mayor Dondon Hontiveros. (PAC of Superbalita Cebu/ML)
