THE Police Regional Office (PRO) 7 has intensified its intelligence monitoring after its chief, P/Brig. Gen. Debold Sinas, received an information—50 kilos of shabu arrived in Cebu Province from Marawi City.

The contraband was reportedly delivered on Aug. 1, 2019.

After arresting several pushers in the past days, anti-narcotics operatives were able to seize a portion of the shabu—22 kilos worth P170 million.

Sinas said the pushers divulged that their supplier was a drug lord, who reportedly transferred his base of operations in Talisay City, Cebu to Marawi City after feeling the heat of the PRO 7’s massive crackdown on illegal drugs.

The drug lord is reportedly the leader of one of the three drug groups operating in Central Visayas. This personality was caught by the police before, Sinas said; he left Talisay City after he was allowed by the court to post bail.

Sinas said his office has coordinated with the Marawi City police to arrest the person, whose network in Cebu is still intact.

The drug lord reportedly sources his supply from someone in Manila.

From Aug. 1 until Sept. 10., 2019, the PRO 7’s lower units played their part in seizing the P170-million shabu—Cebu City Police Office confiscated P92 million, while Mandaue City Police Office recovered P18.6 million.

The amount of illegal drugs seized, for Sinas, means that the police should intensify its monitoring.

Meanwhile, the operatives of Mambaling Police Station seized P12.2 million worth of shabu after they caught Ariane Ann Vergara Reyes, 27, in Sitio Galili, Barangay Duljo Fatima, Cebu City at 6:45 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 10.

Reyes had been listed as a high value target before her arrest. She yielded 1.8 kilos of shabu. (from AYB of Superbalita Cebu/KAL)
