AN INCUMBENT Sanguniang Kabataan (SK) chairman and a former military asset and his companion were arrested by anti-drug operatives in a separate buy bust operations in Gingoog City and Lanao del Norte.

Police arrested Renato Mejorada,24, SK Chairman of barangay Daang Lungsod, for possession of illegal substance.

Recovered from him were buy bust money worth P1,000 and two sachets of suspected shabu.

Police considered him as high value target in the illegal drug trade because of his position as SK chairman.

In Iligan City, a former military asset identified as 46-year-old Norman Obligascio and his companion Earl Fernandez, 21, both residents of barangay Fuentes, Iligan City, were arrested in Baloi, Lanao del Norte.

Seized from Obligascio were a caliber .45 pistol and four live ammunition while the five sachets containing suspected shabu (Methamphetamine hydrochloride) were recovered from Fernandez.

Both suspects allegedly sell illegal drugs in Lanao del Norte and Iligan City.

All suspects are now under police custody and will face drug charges.

Police Regional Office in Northern Mindanao director Brig. Gen. Rafael Santiago Jr. attributed the relentless arrests of drug personalities to the community's support.

"We keep on working double time to stop the proliferation of illegal drugs in the region and we appeal to everyone to continue helping us in our campaign and make Northern Mindanao drug-free," Santiago said.
