ABOUT 15 suspected members of the New People's Army (NPA) burned two mixers and a backhoe owned by a construction firm in Barangay Igcocolo, Guimbal, Iloilo on Wednesday, September 11.

The 61st Infantry Battalion (61st IB) confirmed this Thursday, September 12, saying the perpetrators were equipped with high-powered firearms.

The incident happened around 10:45 p.m. Wednesday, September 11, at the motor pool area of Wilkinson Construction in Barangay Igcocolo, said Army Captain Cenon Pancito III, chief of the 3rd Infantry Division Public Affairs Office.

He said the armed men awakened the workers before pouring gas into the heavy equipment. The armed men then withdrew after burning the mixers and backhoe.

Cenon said the 61st IB personnel and Guimbal police are investigating the incident. (Leo Solinap/SunStar Philippines)
