1.5 kilos of marijuana seized in Bacolod drug bust

ABOUT 1.5 kilos of dried marijuana leaves were seized in a drug bust operation conducted by operatives of Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)-Western Visayas in Barangay Mandalagan, Bacolod City Wednesday evening.

The operation also led to the arrest of Vergilio Rivera Jr., 29, of Purok Bantod, Barangay Pahanocoy.

Police records showed that Rivera was arrested by PDEA agent who acted as buyer after selling marijuana.

Recovered from Rivera’s possession several dried leaves of marijuana with estimated market value of P200,000.

The suspect is detained at the custodial facility of PDEA and is facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Meanwhile, an estimated P75,000 worth of shabu or methamphetamine hydrochloride was also seized in a drug bust conducted by operatives of Police Station 7 in Purok Kabugwason, Barangay Mansilingan, Bacolod City Wednesday.

The operation also led to the arrest of Alvin Lindayao, and his eight companions, all residents of Bacolod City.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Ariel Pico, spokesperson of Bacolod City Police Office, said Lindayao and his companions were arrested after they sold a sachet of shabu to a police poseur buyer at about 12:40 a.m.

Police recovered from the suspects’ possession two sachets of shabu, and the P200 marked money.

The suspects are detained at the custodial facility of Police Station 7.
