CKA overwhelms DCPNHS

The Christ the King Academy (CKA) overwhelmed the Dr. Cecilio Putong National High School (DCPNHS), 114-40, in the Juniors division of the Bohol Schools Athletic Association Season 9 at the Holy Name University Barder Gym in Tagbilaran City, Bohol on Friday evening, September 13, 2019.

CKA had already established a 49-33 lead at halftime but kept the pressure on DCPNHS, tightening their defense even further to hold the latter to a miniscule three points in the third canto, while scoring 35 of their own to take an 84-36 lead.

Things did not necessarily become any better for DCPNHS as they proceeded to score just four in the fourth canto while CKA tallied 30 to register the lopsided victory.

Ivan Angelo Valles played like a man amongst boys as he scored a whopping 39 points and hauled down 21 rebounds. He also played exceptional on the other end of the floor, securing seven steals and three blocks to help CKA improve to 2-1 (win-loss) and send DCPNHS down to 0-3.

Meanwhile in the Seniors division, Holy Name University beat the Mater Dei College, 106-96. Ian Llemit led HNU to the easy win with his 19 points, three rebounds, two assists and two steals.

HNU improved their league-leading record to 3-1 while Mater Dei suffered its first loss in three games. (SunStar Cebu)
