PRINCE Joey Lee and Cherry Andrin conquered the seventh edition of the Recoletos Run, winning the men’s and women’s 12-kilometer titles on Sunday, Sept. 15, 2019, in front of the Cebu City Hall.
Lee crossed the finish line in 42 minutes and 25 seconds to defeat fast-rising Ruel Algufera in a sprint finish for the men’s title.
Algufera timed in 42:26 and settled for second place. Ariel Saballa was in distant third place with a time of 44:18.
In contrast, Andrin clocked in 54:12 as she dominated the women’s side with more than a minute lead over the closest pursuers.
Princess Jive Cala finished second in 55:48 and Mary Joy Castor snagged third place in 58:29.
The fun run also had the 6K and 3K categories but was exclusive to school's students and alumni.
Kaiser Malinao topped the men’s 6K alumni in 26:57, Jane Lagahit won the women’s division in 37:03 and Jimfred Ordona ruled the student division in 26:50.
Junvir Gabison (16:06) and May Anne Sillote (20:13) were the fastest male and female runners in the alumni 3K category.
Nichole Anthony Contillas (13:17) and Eileen Tenebroso (16:03), meanwhile, were crowned champions in the student division.
The sporting event was organized by the University of San Jose-Recoletes Alumni Association Inc. for the benefit of the alumni scholars. (SunStar Cebu)
