Duno stops Delgado, calls out Garcia

ROMERO Duno battered Ivan Delgado to submission in seven rounds on Sunday, Sept. 15, 2019 (PHL time), in Carson, California and called out unbeaten prospect Ryan Garcia. Duno hurt Delgado in the fourth round and blood was trickling down the nose of the Mexican-American in the fifth round. Delgado’s corner didn’t want their ward to take anymore punishment and waved off the fight after the seventh round.

The 23-year-old Duno, the No. 10 rated lightweight in the World Boxing Organization (WBO), won his seventh fight in the US and improved to 21-1 with 16 knockouts. Delgado, on the other hand, suffered his second straight loss and dropped to 13-3-2 with six knockouts. Duno wants a fight with fast-rising unbeaten prospect Ryan Garcia and came into the fight wearing a T-shirt that said “Ryan Garcia next stop running.” Garcia was supposed to see action in the same event but his opponent Avery Sparrow was forced to pull out after being arrested by federal authorities the day on the weigh-in for an outstanding charge.
