Militiaman nabbed in anti-drug sting

POLICE have arrested a militiaman in an anti-drug operation in Isabela City, the capital of Basilan province, an official said Monday, September 16.

Police Lieutenant Colonel William Gadayan, Isabela City police chief, identified the arrested militiaman as Basil Basa, 49, a resident of the village of Panyongan, Lantawan, Basilan.

Gadayan said Basa was caught in possession of six heat-sealed plastic sachets of substance believed to be shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride) when he was nabbed in a drug bust Monday, September 16, in the village of Lampinigan, Isabela City.

Also recovered from the suspect's possession was P500 marked money.

Gadayan said the drug bust was launched following surveillance on the involvement of the suspect in illegal drug trade. (SunStar Philippines)
