Alden Richards promotes new series ‘The Gift,’ first teleserye for Cebu-based beauty Cynthia Thomalla

GMA Network continues to inspire Filipinos with its promising primetime soap operas as it releases its newest series “The Gift.” Starring Alden Richards, “The Gift” premiered yesterday, Sept. 16 on the network’s Telebabad lineup, replacing “Love You Two.”

“The Gift” is Alden’s comeback teleserye with GMA after “Victor Magtanggol” which aired last year.

Alden will take the role of Joseph or Sep—a visually-impaired vendor from the bustling streets of Divisoria. The story follows what happens when Sep’s simple life takes a radical turn after a near-death experience. Sep soon finds himself with the gift of “clairvoyance” or the ability to predict future events, among other things.

Alden revealed during a press conference last Sept. 13 in Cebu, that “The Gift” was stalled for a year to give way to his other projects.

He personally requested GMA to give him roles that would put him back in serious dramas. In spite of being offered with a lot of projects, Alden chose “The Gift” for its purpose, wanting the project to be a beacon of hope for the visually-impaired.

“The concept made me feel like, ‘I have to do this,’ especially sa mga Kapuso nating disabled,” Alden said. The actor went through a blind immersion, and realized how losing one’s vision could be a great loss.

Cebu-based beauty queen, Cynthia “Thia” Thomalla, will play Faith who likes Sep. “The Gift” is Thia’s first-ever teleserye. Despite being a newbie herself, Alden sees that Thia is working very hard for the role and has been doing very well.

“I see that passion in her. She really wants to deliver and she wants to do this,” Alden shared about Thia. Thia has attended several workshops and has also been learning from her Kapuso co-stars.

Other Kapuso stars that will give life to the story are Mikee Quintos, Jo Berry, Mikoy Morales, Jean Garcia, Christian Vasquez, Martin del Rosario, Ysabel Ortega, Betong Sumaya, Rochelle Pangilinan, Luz Valdez, Victor Anastacio, Elizabeth Oropesa and Tj Trinidad.

Cebuano Kapuso fans were also in for a treat last Sept. 13, when the lead stars of the “The Gift” did back-to-back shows in Talisay City and Danao City.
