THE recently launched Malawakang Pagbibigay-kaalaman sa Agrikultura, Magsasakang may Alam, Laging Angat, Sagana sa Kita (Mapagmalasakit) program conducted an information campaign in Kabankalan City.

Almost 300 participants were trained on free-range chicken, mallard duck (itik) and goat production.

Areas topped by the Department of Agriculture (DA) and local government unit (LGU) are the municipalities of Cauayan, Ilog, Candoni and Hinobaan and cities of Sipalay and San Carlos.

Dr. Eden de los Reyes-Bautista, of the Agriculture Training Institute (ATI), said knowledge on technology is needed for farmers to increase income.

Bautista thanked the livestock breeders in the province for the positive response on the massive information campaign of agricultural technologies and production system through the Mapagmalasakit seminars and trainings.

The DA-ATI "Back to Basic" Advocacy Campaign, on the other hand, had trained farmers nationwide on free-range native chicken and mallard duck raising since 2018.

Dr. Allan Jeffrey Francia of Tarlac Agriculture University, BAI-National Swine and Poultry Research Development Center Chief Dr. Rene Santiago, and Dr. Rufo Llorin Jr. were the resource speakers in the training.

Kabankalan City acting agriculturist Ricky Muscosa, for his part, said the livestock information campaign is one way of helping the livestock breeders of the province.

"We hope that it could increase production and profitability as the farmers learn and adopt new technologies," he added. (PR)
