Gasataya to fast-track 3rd flyover for Bacolod

BACOLOD City Lone District Representative Greg Gasataya is now facilitating with the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) to fast-track the proposed flyover along Lopue’s East in the city.

Gasataya said yesterday he already talked with DPWH Secretary Mark Villar weeks ago on the proposed flyover in Bacolod.

“I discussed it with him and with the other officials that Bacolod really need an additional flyover in the east area of Bacolod to address the traffic situation along Burgos and Circumferential Road,” he said.

He added that Villar also assured that he will discuss it with the department concern on the proposed flyover for Bacolod.

Last year, the DPWH already completed the feasibility study on the proposed flyover along Lopue’s East.

Once it will be materialized, this will be the third flyover in Bacolod.

Gasataya recalled that President Rodrigo Duterte earlier approved the construction of five flyovers in the country, one of which will be constructed in Bacolod.

Gasataya said the proposed flyover along Lopue’s East was designed with one beam unlike in Magsaysay-Araneta flyover with two beams.

Meanwhile, Gasataya said the DPWH already started the construction of the new drainage project along Circumferential Road to Lupit River to address the flood problem in the area.

“During raining days, floods occurs in the area of Circumferential Road so we need to address it,” he said.

The DPWH has allocated P20 million for the implementation of the project. This will be a 500 meter drainage project from the PanAsiatic to Lupit River.

Engineer Ferdinand Magada, chief of Construction Section of DPWH, earlier said that because of the business development in the area, the existing drainage could not cope with the inflow of water.

He said that they will not remove the existing drainage in the area like what they did in Lacson Street.
